Working with
Gener8, Zenkat implemented an integrated image processing, object
detection, and particle characterization package for Blueshift
Biotechnologies’s novel
IsoCyte laser scanning
fluorimeter. Implemented in Java with the open-source
ImageJ framework, the BlueImage particle analysis package accurately
identifies beads, cells, and/or array elements. These particles are then
characterized by size, shape, location, intensity, and anisotropy. A
dashboard control interface allows for the customization, tuning and testing
of particle detection parameters, while the batch processing mode allows
entire plates of images to be processed automatically. The final BlueImage
product was integrated into Blueshift's instrument control framework using
Sun's
Java-ActiveX bridge technology.
